Overview & History
Department of Neurology was started in 1996 under the leadership of
Dr Thomas Iype in Government Medical College Chest hospital. At that time, the sanctioned posts were one associate professor and 3 posts of assistant professor/ lecturer. In 1914, the department was shifted to ward 17, New Medical college hospital, M.G kavu. At present ,the department is having a bed strength of 24.The department is serving about 300-400 OP patients/day, an average of 25- 30 consultations from other departments per day and more than 3500 neurophysiological procedures per year.

Has been a part of the stroke thrombolysis carried out by medicine department.
